On August 3rd, which was the 215th day of the year, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation held a sunrise ceremony and a commemorative walk in downtown Peterborough. TRC Bobcaygeon members attended. Miigwech to the organizers for this beautiful ceremony and walk.

The parade was well attended and since most people were wearing orange in honour of Every Child Matters there was a sea of colour on the streets.

Chief Emily Whetung of Curve Lake First Nation and Chief Laurie Carr of Hiawatha First Nation addressed the crowd. Kelly LaRocca Chief of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation also spoke to those in attendance.

Several members of Truth and Reconciliation Community Bobcaygeon participated in remembering and honouring the children taken at residential schools across Canada.
