This September the 3oth, 2021, on the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we were ready for the drumming at 5:15 that sent our beats out across the universe in time with the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Nation’s Honour Song. People without drums beat along with their own heartbeat. Seeing hands over hearts was very fitting of the love and respect present on this day.
Our goal for this event was to really focus on truth and reconciliation and honouring the children who died in Indian Residential Schools and the survivors and their extended families.
