In keeping with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day on September 30, 2024, Truth and Reconciliation Community Bobcaygeon and the Mishkodeh Centre for Indigenous Knowledge invite you and your family and friends to a remembrance ceremony at the Boyd Museum in Bobcaygeon followed by a walk to the new Bobcaygeon Beach Park Friendship Garden known as Gdinuhwendimin (“We are related”).
On September 30th we honour the children who never returned home, and the survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
Please join us with the Unity Drummers, as well as Knowledge Keeper, Anne Taylor and Community Educator, Brittany Taylor, members of Curve Lake First Nation.
After a brief ceremony at the Boyd Museum, we will be carrying the memorial orange stones representing children who never returned home from residential schools to Gdinuhwendimin garden at the Bobcaygeon Beach Park.
The event will happen rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.
